Broomfield's SEWER Program

The City of Broomfield offers owner-occupied, single family residential property owners reimbursement for a sewer that is damaged under the sidewalk or street in the public right-of-way through the Sewer Evaluation With Eligible Reimbursement (SEWER) Program.

Sewer lines can be expensive to replace or repair, and many of the older Broomfield neighborhoods still have clay pipes going out to the city connection. This program does not cover the private portion of the sewer line that runs through the owner's property, so it's also important to do proper maintenance and evaluation to catch problems early. Many years ago, we had a liner blown into our existing sewer line to keep roots from entering and add strength in our wonderful expansive Colorado soils. It wasn't a sexy way to spend a few thousand dollars, but I've always subscribed more to the stitch-in-time philosophy. We used Aqualine Services; it took only one day and minimally impacted the yard.

If you're wondering about the condition of your line, I recommend getting a video scope done by Mile High Pipe Inspectors. Rich Johnson is happy to explain the ins and outs of your sewer line (pun intended), has competitive pricing, and does not do repairs himself so he will give you an honest evaluation. Tell him I sent you!
