Food Drive Success!

Yesterday I dropped off over 90 items or 75 pounds of food and personal care items to Broomfield FISH food pantry! Only five people donated, but they were a generous five!

If you missed this even but would still like to donate items, please contact FISH directly - they are always grateful for the assistance. And be sure to mark your calendar for next February! I am hoping that every year we can grow bigger. A big THANK YOU to those who helped me spread the love this year!

Valentine's Day Food Drive

Donations are starting to roll in! Next Friday I will be dropping off non-perishable food and personal items to Broomfield FISH food pantry.

"The mission of Broomfield FISH is to meet our neighbors' basic human needs and provide them with hope and tools to rise out of poverty.  FISH is a non-profit organization that provides food, emergency financial assistance, and one-on-one mentoring support to Broomfield residents in need."

 If you would like to donate items, feel free to drop them at my RE/MAX Elevate office at 724 Main Street in Louisville, or text me to drop it off at my house. I can also pick up your donations in the next week if you are local.

A couple of folks have sent me a donation via Venmo, which I will take to the grocery store to get some of the most desired items on the pantry's list:

• Beef Stew
• Canned meat (tuna, chicken, spam, etc.)
• Canned Fruit
• Cooking oil
• Baking mixes
• Dry pasta
• Cereal
• Personal Care items

Colorado Gives Day 2019

I like the idea of putting dollars back into the communities from which my business comes. I'm grateful for my client support and have compiled a list of some of their favorite non-profits. For 2019, I was able to make donations to Moving to End Sexual Assault, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. That last one isn't local, but one of those commercials caught me off-guard one day and the kids were so dang cute. The Sarah McLachlan one came on, too, hence the Humane Society.

Clients Giving Back to the Community

At the end of the year, I donate a portion of my commission to local non-profit organizations. Here are some of the charities from this last year:

• Colorado Public Radio – striving to foster a better understanding of community issues; promote music enjoyment and education throughout the region; and lead collaborations in production, distribution, and fundraising.

• Boulder Shelter for the Homeless – provides safe shelter, food, support services, and an avenue to self-sufficiency for homeless adults in our community. 

• Resource Central – a community hub with programs that help people save water, reduce waster and conserve energy.

• North Metro Community Services – a community centered board that serves people with developmental disabilities in Adams County.

• Sister Carmen Community Center – a non-religious agency helping vulnerable residents in East Boulder County through meeting basic needs, preventing homelessness, help with obtaining employment, parenting support, and meaningful family and child centered activities.

• Broomfield Council on the Arts & Humanities – striving for the advancement or arts and humanities by nurturing diverse, quality programs and ensuring inclusive access for residents of Broomfield and surrounding areas.

I am very fortunate to have the job that I love, and am grateful to be able to give back to the community for all that it has given me. Thank you to all of my wonderful clients for making these donations possible!

Supporting Local Non-Profits

When my clients close a transaction with me, I donate a portion of my commission to a local charity which they get to choose. Below is a list of some of the organizations that my clients have chosen to give to this year:

• American Red Cross – helps disaster recovery, transportation and support for the ill, elderly and service members and their families.

• Autism Society of Colorado – improving the lives of those affected by autism through education and community support. 

• Boulder County AIDS Project – providing education to the community and support to those affected by HIV.

• Boulder Emergency Squad – volunteer rescue professionals providing emergency support services to Boulder County.

• Broomfield FISH – providing poverty assistance to Broomfield residents.

• Childrens' Hospital Colorado – redefining the future of childrens' health.

• Dumb Friends League – providing shelter, care and adoption services for animals. Investigates animal cruelty and supports animal-friendly legislation.

• Longmont Humane Society – caring, serving and educating to improve the lives of companion animals.

• Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence – providing safety and support to victims of domestic violence.

• Toys for Tots – providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas, including collecting toys and raising funds.

Paying It Forward

Those of you that personally know me and my husband, Dennis, know that community is important to us.  Dennis strives to make his martial arts school, Saeng Myong Martial Arts, an inclusive, accepting environment where all feel comfortable to train, ask questions, and reach out to others.  Five years ago, a couple of our students started the Gratitude Through Giving Scholarship Fund at the do jang.  Over the years, many young people have benefited from the generosity and caring of our student community that sustains the fund.

When I started my real estate business, it was important to me to find ways to give back to the people who trust me with their transactions and the community that allows my business to grow.  I donate 5% of my gross commission to local non-profits, and my clients get to select the charity that benefits.  Some of the recent recipients include Broomfield FISH, the Colorado Autism Society and Toys for Tots.

I believe in demonstrating that we value a person or service by putting in time, effort and resources to whatever degree we are capable.  Thank you to my clients, friends and family who have shown me that they care and believe in me through their business, referrals and love.
